Through the years the Lions Club of Kenmore has worked diligently to raise funds to provide the services and donations that aid the sight and hearing impaired, both locally and globally. In the early days candy bar and fruit cake sales raised funds for our charitable works. During the 1950’s members sold light bulbs door to door. For one campaign a member was instrumental in getting the Goodyear Blimp for a 3 day stay in the Kenmore area emblazoned with the Kenmore Lions name! For the Village of Kenmore’s 75th Anniversary, members donated their time as dunking booth targets to raise funds for the needy. In 1983 a new idea to raise funds was conceived, and thus was born our “Carnations For Sight Days.” Each spring and fall you will find Kenmore Lions asking for donations for a carnation and distributing brochures describing how donated dollars are distributed to help those in need. Since 1997 the club has also held a Pancake Breakfast as an additional fundraiser, which is held each winter at St. Andrew’s School in Kenmore. Please check our calendar for important dates including our “Carnations For Sight Days” and annual Pancake Breakfast. The Kenmore Lions as well as the local community appreciate your generous support. Thanks to all who help make our fundraising efforts successful! |
